About eCompetitors Inc
eCompetitors Inc is a global corporation with headquarters in New York City.
eCompetitors provides global industry and company information at the line-of-business level, where true competition takes place.
We are unique - starting with our proprietary taxonomy of the world's economy. Our global industry taxonomy, of over 10,000 non-overlapping strategically relevant industries, provides the foundation of our industry knowledgebase. This foundation, which took seven years of research to develop, is far superior than government-developed industry classification systems like: SIC codes, NAICS codes, and United Nations based ISIC codes. We strongly believe in the industry analysis methodologies put forth by Michael Porter; and we provide industry information to support those methodologies.
Most significantly, our knowledgebase of information has been generated through intense research, and not simply the result of computer-to-computer access and reformatting of company reported data. We believe we have the best industry (line-of-business) market research in the world in terms of strategically relevant information; and it's all presented in one holistic model - the Global Industry Dashboard.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide business executives and sales professionals with a unique and superior business tool for analyzing industries and companies. We have created an online model of the global economy using the most logical and most useful industry classification system in the world. Unlike most other business information companies that provide "industry sector" information, we provide 100% pure strategically relevant industry information. We also provide superior corporate information in terms of the industries they compete in. We use the term "strategically relevant industry" - or "SRI" - to specifically mean the correct level to define an industry and perform an industry analysis. For example, we provide industry information useful to those using Michael E. Porter's five forces industry analysis methodology, the most widely studied industry analysis methodology in the world. [See "Competitive Strategy" and "Competitive Advantage" - both by Michael E. Porter]
Our Short-term Mission is to define and to constantly update the top 10,000 global industries and to analyze all companies that have more than 1% market share in one or more of these industries. Our information service is designed for companies to use directly, and for consulting firms to use as a complementary resource to their internal research activities.
